Romans holds a Bachelor degree in Food Technology and a Masters in Food Chemistry. He has more than ten years of professional experience working in the food industry. Shortly after graduating, he worked for several years in the Latvian Food and Veterinary Office as a food inspector. Since 2012, Romans has been working at FRUCOM, a European trade association, advising food traders on food safety requirements for food products entering Europe. Romans’ work covers a number of areas, including pesticides, contaminants, increased official controls at EU borders, etc. In parallel, Romans is responsible for managing the bi-annual laboratory testing programme for one of the UK’s trade associations.
