Donn Zea has served as the Executive Director of the California Dried Plum Board (CDPB) since 2011. A State Marketing Order regulated by the California Department of Food and Agriculture, the CDPB develops and executes generic domestic and international marketing and promotion, nutrition research,crop managementand sustainability research, and issues management activities for 800 growers and 29 processors of California prunes. Mr. Zea’s 28 years of executive management in agriculture also includes serving as President of the Northern California Water Association, California Forest Products Commission, andVice-President of the California Forestry Association. Mr. Zea is a passionate advocate for California and U.S. agriculture, recognized by his peers by being appointed to numerous leadership positions as a current member of the USDA Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee, Chair of theBuy California Marketing Agreement, member of the Dean’s Advisory Council, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo College ofAgriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, Chair of the Board of Governors, Agricultural Research Institute, and Director of the California Dried Fruit Coalition.
Mr. Zea attended California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He and his family live in Grass Valley, CA, in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills.
Mr. Zea applies his interest inhealthy food and performance nutritionto his personal avocation for trail running, having completed more than fifty ultramarathons, including fourteen 100-mile mountainevents.
